Welcome to...The Catholic Doc.

Updated: Jul 18

If you're reading this, know that you're here for a reason...so hey there! and Welcome!

Honestly, I'm still figuring this thing out. When the thought of starting something like this came to me in prayer, I was very much not ready to entertain the idea as I felt that it would only be appropriate for me to start a blog of this nature after I've become more established or well-versed regarding the types of discussions and conversations I hope this blog will bring about. But if there's one thing I have learned, it's that waiting for perfection usually means never starting.

So this is me. Starting.

The Catholic Doc was an inspiration that came to me in the months leading up to the start of my medical school journey. I decided to start this page, not because I have all the answers, but because I'm asking a lot of questions. How to follow and pursue Jesus in the midst of classes and demanding exams. How to see medicine through the lens of faith. How to let faith guide me in how I practice medicine in the future. How to stand firm in faith when in a field that typically knocks it down. How to be real in a world that is often about performing.

Currently, I'm a first-year medical student. In fact I haven't even started yet. My orientation days are over and I haven't even started my classes yet, but already, I have seen the hand of God in literally everything around me. I've seen him in the people I've met, the friends I've made, the places I've been, the conversations I've had, and in the unpredicted peace I've experienced in spite of all the unknowns that lay before me.

This blog is for anyone trying to live with faith in a field that often forgets the soul. For students, for healthcare professionals, for anyone who wonders what holiness looks like in a white coat. I’ll be sharing reflections, struggles, wins, and probably more questions than answers, but we'll search for them together!

Thank you for being here. I hope this space encourages you to keep choosing Christ, no matter where you are, and whatever your calling looks like.

Grace and peace to you always!
